In My Mailbox (11)

"In My Mailbox" is a weekly event hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. "IMM" is a way to share thoughts on the books you've received throughout the week with readers. To read more about "In My Malbox," click here.
First of all, is May really almost over?! I think I must have like evaporated for half of May. It seems like it was just April. Wow. Okay, IMM time.

1. Divergent by Veronica Roth- This one is already awesome and I'm barely 50 pages in.

2. Water For Elephants by Sarah Gruen- I think I am the only person in this world who has not yet read this book!

3. Ten by Lauren Myracle- It's finally here! Ten! The prequel to Lauren Myracle's adorable Winnie Perry series!

4. 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson- I already had The Last Little Blue Envelope, but I didn't have this one, and I just couldn't read out of order!

That's all for this weeks IMM!

Armchair BEA: The End For Now

Well, Armchair BEA is now over. *cries* It was fresh, it was fun, but as all good things do, it must come to an end. However, Armchair BEA has partnered with BEA's Official Podcast: Author Studio, where they will be posting interviews with authors who attended BEA. So, don't leave quite yet! Armchair BEA will still be posting throughout next week. Click here, to learn more.

I would like to thank all of the people who helped put together Armchair BEA because you guys did an amazing job! The awesome videos, the interviews, the amazing twitter chats, and everything! Great Job Armchair BEA! I hope to see you guys again next year!

Across Eternity by Aris Whittier

Synopsis (from Goodreads)-
Born a genius; education, wealth, and prestige came easy to Logan Richards. Actually, there wasn’t much that Logan couldn’t learn or acquire. However, he knew there was more to life than money and power. Logan was determined to find the woman who he'd dreamed of his entire life and know what it was like to love her before he died.
Amber Lewis, a waitress for a five-star restaurant in, Dana Point, California, was overworked, stressed, and wary of life since her sister, Heather, had passed away. Then, one evening while working she fell hopelessly in love with Logan Richards, a chivalrous man who felt deeply familiar.
For Amber, it was the beginning of a voyage of self-discovery and renewal. For Logan, it was the completion of life. For each of them it was the deepest sort of love.

My thoughts-
I was super excited when Aris Whittier contacted me about reviewing her book! And I was not disappointed with the book at all! What a well written novel! The characters were brought to life and the writing was phenomenal! The story was so intriguing and the ideas were so remarkable. The book is about to people who are very different, yet very similar because they are designed to be together. Just hearing the concept of the novel you know it's going to be a great story. After the first few chapters, I was completely hooked!

Finally Getting Into the Groove!

I started blogging in February of this year, and I feel like after about 4 months I'm finally getting the hang of this blogging thing! And I'm really enjoying it! Before I started blogging, I had no idea how big and wonderful the book blogging community was! It seriously is amazing! Everyone has been so welcoming! It feels like I've been embraced into a huge hug!
Everyday I feel like I'm learning new things about blogging! I'm always making new bloggy buddies and really just having fun! There are so many fun events around the book blogging community!
I also never expected for Mint Tea and A Good Book to grow as much as it has! I created this blog to share books I'm reading with family and friends. I never expected to make new friends along the way or for Mint Tea and A Good Book to grow as it has. We hit 100 followers today! 100! I know that's a small achievement compared to a lot of blogs, but it seems big to me. I will not be having a giveaway for 100 because I already have the Hereafter + Swag Giveaway going on. Definitely I will have one for 200 followers though!
I do not have an Armchair BEA post for today but there will be a BEA post in the near future! If you have not seen the Armchair BEA Vlog for today which was done by the fabulous Emily from Emily's Reading Room, click here. (I think it's the best one so far!) I am very jealous that she got an ARC Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter!
So to sum this post up: I would like to thank everyone who has so graciously accepted me into the book blogging community! So far it has been a blast!

Armchair BEA: Day 2

I'm having so much fun looking at all of the BEA-related posts! Today is the second day of Armchair BEA. If you are still unsure of what Armchair BEA is, I advise you to click here.

Today, Armchair BEA participants were asked to: share some of your favorite books so far this year, and/or the the books being promoted at BEA that you hope will end up among your favorites for the year!
2011 has already been a big reading year for me. I have read more books in 2011, than ever before! That makes me super excited. So far, my favorite books of 2011 are:

Of the books being promoted at BEA, the two that I want most/ know I will love are:

Uncommon Criminals (Heist Society 2) by Ally Carter- I am seriously so jealous of people getting ARC's of this book!

Crossed (Matched #2) by Ally Condie- People are reading this ARC right now! I really enjoyed Matched, and talking to Ally Condie, she said Crossed is going to be very good! Super Excited!

Stop by again tomorrow for Armchair BEA Day 3!

Armchair BEA: Day 1

Hello Everyone! Today, I am super excited because today marks the first day of Armchair BEA!! *squeal* If you do not know what BEA is, (first of all I'm a little worried about you) you should click here. Basically, BEA is this huge book convention in New York City. Sounds amazing, doesn't it?
Well, unfortunately, not everyone can attend BEA every year, so Armchair BEA was created! Armchair BEA is kind of like virtual BEA. They posts videos from BEA, talk about BEA, etc. So, now that you've been updated, let's get started!

Today, I have been instructed to tell everyone a little bit about myself and how I'm participating in Armchair BEA.
Well probably the most important thing about me is that I love, love, love reading! I read as often as I can. My favorite genres are Contemporary YA, Mystery, YA Fiction, some Middle Grade, and really YA in general.
At Armchair BEA, I'm hoping to meet some new people, add some more books to my TBR list, watch some videos from BEA, and learn a lot about BEA. (I didn't even really know about BEA until this year!)

     Enjoy BEA week!

Hodge Podge Blog

First off, there will be no In My Mailbox (IMM) this week because I am super busy and didn't get very many books this week. So next week will be a super fun combined IMM.
Also, I am super duper jealous of all of you who are going to BEA! Willa from Willa's Ramblings has to keep me from visiting the BEA website. Yeah, I really am jealous. But luckily, there is Armchair BEA which may not be as good as the real thing, but it's better than nothing! And Emily from Emily's Reading Room made this awesome BEA video.

Armchair BEA is going to be posting all week on BEA and so will a ton of other blogs. So if you're like me, and you are not going to BEA, you can still get a peak at what it's like.
Next, I am super bad about updating the book review archive so there are a ton of reviews that are not uploaded. I'm sorry about that, but don't worry, it will be updated soon! And Mint Tea and A Good Book's Hereafter Giveaway is still going on, so click here, for details.

Lastly, have a wonderful Happy Elizabeth Scott Week! And if you're going to BEA, have fun!

Review: Something, Maybe

In celebration of Elizabeth Scott week, here is my (promised) Elizabeth Scott Book Review. I chose to review Something, Maybe.

Synopsis (from Goodreads)-

Everyone thinks their parents are embarrassing, but Hannah knows she's got them all beat. Her dad made a fortune showcasing photos of pretty girls and his party lifestyle all over the Internet, and her mom was once one of her dad's girlfriends and is now the star of her own website. After getting the wrong kind of attention for way too long, Hannah has mastered the art of staying under the radar...and that's just how she likes it.

Of course, that doesn't help her get noticed by her crush. Hannah's sure that gorgeous, sensitive Josh is her soul mate. But trying to get him to notice her; wondering why she suddenly can't stop thinking about another guy, Finn; and dealing with her parents make Hannah feel like she's going crazy. Yet she's determined to make things work out the way she wants—only what she wants may not be what she needs...

Once again, Elizabeth Scott has created a world so painfully funny and a cast of characters so heartbreakingly real that you'll love being a part of it from unexpected start to triumphant finish.

My thoughts-

Something, Maybe was my first Elizabeth Scott book, and I was impressed! Elizabeth Scott perfectly crafted Hannah, Josh, Finn and all the other characters in the book.

Hannah has a very unusual family, but I loved Hannah's relationship with her mother. Her mom may be a stripper, but she loves Hannah and wants to keep her safe, which is the most important thing. Her filthy rich father, on the other hand, couldn't care less about Hannah and her mother.

The plot of Something, Maybe is very predictable, but the book is filled with fun little twists and turns making it worth while.

I definitely recommend Something, Maybe and will be reading more Elizabeth Scott Books in the future. (I've already read Bloom and am beginning Perfect You)

Happy Elizabeth Scott Week!

Katniss Everdeen!

About a month ago, when pretty blonde, 20-year-old Jennifer Lawrence was cast to play olive skin, dark haired, 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, people groaned. How could she ever fit the role? I admit, while I knew Jennifer Lawrence was a good actress, I was skeptical of her playing Katniss. Today however, that changed.
Today Entertainment Weekly released Jennifer Lawrence's "Katniss Look." Such a transformation from that pretty blonde girl to olive skin, dark haired, strong Katniss Everdeen. Look below.

If you've not already seen it, don't you think it's just amazing?! It's making me super excited about the movie!

Here's her "before picture." Isn't there such a difference?!

Entertainment Weekly's "Katniss Article" will be released on May 20th. I will definitely be buying the magazine! To see more on "Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Transformation," click here.

Mini Review: Things I Know About Love by Kate Le Vann

Title: Things I Know About Love
Author: Kate Le Vann
Publisher: Egmont USA
Release Date: June 22nd, 2010

Synopsis (from Goodreads)

Livia's experience of love has been disappointing to say the least. But all that is about to change. After years of illness, she's off to spend the summer with her brother in America. She's making up for lost time, and she's writing it all down in her private blog. America is everything she ever dreamed of - and then she meets Adam. Can Livia put the past behind her and risk falling in love again?

My Thoughts

Kate Le Vann's Things I Know About Love was a fun, fresh, quick read that was full of laughs. I loved how the main character was from England, so in the book, her word choice was so british! It was so cute! The ending (which I won't give away) was very sad and unexpected. The book (as a whole) was actually more sad then I thought it would be, but definitely a great read. I highly recommend it.

Guest Review: The Siren's Cry

Hello everyone! Today we have with us, the fabulous Willa from Willa's Ramblings! She has reviewed for us, The Siren's Cry by Jennifer Anne Kogler. Here is her review.

Book Review: The Siren’s Cry
Book by: Jennifer Anne Kogler
Review by: Willa Smith
Release Date: July 1st, 2011
Publisher: Harper Teen

Fern is no ordinary fifteen-year-old. She is an Otherworldly, and most importantly, one of the Unusual Eleven. At fifteen, Fern and the other eleven are destined to change the fate of other Otherworldlies and Humans, a fate causes problems when the Unusual Eleven have never met.  On a school trip in Washington, DC, Fern has a vision (one of the many powers of the Unusual Eleven) that reveals one of the Eleven to be in grave danger. In the sequel to The Otherworldies, Fern embarks on an adventure that’s funny, sad, and dangerous all at the same time, and in the center of the whirlwind is Fern. The one that is supposed to solve the puzzle, but can she do it in time?
I Recommended for fans of The Otherworldlies, and other paranormal novels with a twist of mystery. I give this novel 4 stars, for it’s ability to pull you in and never let you go, and it’s ability to make you laugh out loud, and gasp, all in the same chapter. Great Read! I definitely recommend it!

Mclean doesn't pretend to be someone else. She's just Mclean, if she even knows who Mclean really is at all.

I was super duper excited to get an ARC of this book! This is my 3rd Sarah Dessen Book and I loved it. Sarah Dessen fans will love her new book, What Happened To Goodbye. The characters are very real, the descriptions are incredible, and overall it's really just a great book. Usually the amount of flashbacks in Sarah Dessen books (especially Just Listen) really annoy me, but with this one, not so much. Definitely a great read. If you've never read a Sarah Dessen book before, this one is a good one to start with. Add What Happened To Goodbye on Goodreads.
